Part two in my blog series about the CM workshop I am taking this month (part one is here). This week we’ve been working on going beyond the more simplistic rule of thirds when composing our shots. Specifically, we’ve been working on learning to see Golden Spirals and Golden Triangles.
It’s not easy! I find I am more naturally drawn to spirals and curves, and so I can see them more easily, but finding triangles that don’t look awkward and where the focal point lies in the correct position has definitely been a struggle! This is definitely something I need to keep practicing.
these are beautifully composed… wish i knew why 😉 but they really are great! i’m soooo envious, i want to take all the cm classes! ok, so i was going to say the coffee was my favorite, but really, they all are. 🙂
I like these ALL, but the last comp really does something for me! 🙂 I really need to take that class, like REALLY. Comp is my HUGE weakness! So jealous!!! Cannot wait to see more from ya!
These are all beautiful. Which class is it that you are taking? I’ve taken Natural Light and RYC and want to take more more more 🙂
Jessica, I love your work. I can’t wait to see what you are going to do next! And I love these 🙂
What beautiful photographs! They are so well composed and they are a great example of why I want to take this class from CM.
Ok….the coffee shot is amazing and so is the last one. I love the “swirlyness” of that shot….it makes it so interesting!
that latte shot is TDF. seriously. i would hang that up in my house. love it. 🙂
I love the shot with the hot chocolate (or coffee, but I love hot chocolate). Sounds like you are learning a lot for the workshop. That is awesome.
Great work. LOVE the book, stunning image.
