I admit, I was the one who voted to try this again, and though I feel like I got closer this time, I still feel like this “out of focus stuff” is eluding me. But I got closer, which has fueled me—I am going to practice this in earnest! I just love the softness of out of focus images that are done well, and I love the emphasis it gives to color and shape. But so far I haven’t managed to create an image of a person that I am completely happy with when nothing in the frame is in focus. But that has only made me more determined! (Have I mentioned I am stubborn?)
So for my portrait, here’s what I came up with. The lace is in focus, which at least is unique because it’s less traditional, but the entirely-oof image still eludes me…
And while we were in Disneyland, I practiced with out-of-focus non-portraits. I love the feel of these and really want to play more with this—it inspires me.
I think I need to get to the beach to try this some more, and I will!!!!!!
As always, please continue on in our little circle to see what Christine came up with; I am so excited to see these this month!
Love these, Jessica! I’m like you- in a portrait I REALLY need something to be in focus. These look fantastic. LOVE the colors in the second image!
I just adore the first image…the softness is so beautiful.
