Project 12 Portraits | Color Theory

This week I rented a new lens, the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 (though not the IS version–and I admit I am regretting that decision already, though even this one is pretty darned fabulous!), so to test it out, and to let Emily off the hook, and I did a portrait of flowers—does that count for our group? I focused on the complimentary colors of pink and green–clearly favorites of mine…

As always Jessica, those are so lovely! I have borrowed the 4.0 IS version of that lens from a friend and I have longed to have my own every since! Love the colors. It’s so soft and dreamy!ReplyCancel

    Hi Jessica
Have you edited your background or not.
I love the softness of these photos and and the light. Any tips for a newbie please? 🙂

It’s all about the lens and having a wide open aperture! The background wasn’t edited at all. Opening your aperture (in this case, to 2.8) creates a lovely softness if your subject is far enough away from the background. <3ReplyCancel
