My 5D Mark III photos are included here, but this post includes my favorite iPhone images from our trip. (See my IG account, summer of 2017, for the daily details!)
I can never resist taking airplane-window photos. Even though we fly fairly often, I am always amazed by the sheer craziness of being up in the air. It is so beautiful, yet still so scary to me–LOL! This was taken above Switzerland as we were flying in for our quick layover. I can’t sleep on a plane, so all-told I went nearly 30 hours with barely a nap; this was taken at about hour 25.
After a stop in Disneyland, we made it to Paris, and I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous architecture and gorgeous light that was everywhere…
Our first museum (of many!) was the Museé d’Orsay.
I was seeing Fibonacci spirals everywhere; I was in heaven!
A not-great photo, but still an absolute favorite because I just love how Emily is all dressed up and holding her wine glass on our dinner cruise, but she is still her daddy’s little girl who giggles like crazy when he teases her… <3
Eiffel Tower details:
And Versailles!
Our first truly rainy day, in the little town of Rouen:
And a brief stop in Caen, where I just loved the juxtaposition of the very old grey building against the newer (but still old!), cheerfully colored merry-go-round…
We had seen the gorgeous light displays on many of the cathedrals in France (who knew that was a thing?), but this was the first we’d seen on a tree, and for some reason we found it even more breathtaking. So beautiful! It was in the sweet little town of Bayeaux.
And of course a Stonehenge selfie. Crappy photo, but hilarious moment in the wind and rain!
The Salisbury Cathedral is gorgeous…
And another terrible photo, but among our favorite memories, was our visit to The Bletchley, an amazing bar in London where you become a secret agent in World War II, using enigma machines and protocols to order secret drinks. It was so much fun and definitely a highlight of our trip! (Thank you, Alisa!!!!)
More London details:
On our last full day, we were back in France tasting our way around the champagne region, and we came across this kitty in a little window, who made us miss our kitties with his sweetness…
We can’t wait for our next adventure! I’m not-so-secretly hoping for Italy for college graduation…
