The theme for our blog circle this month is “Summer Life.” (Have I mentioned how much I love the themes of this circle? Well, I DO!!)
In considering what to blog about this month, I have thought a lot about how we spend our summers. And I really think I have summed it up with this: We are very busy being lazy. The school year tends to be so crazy that during the summer we really do try hard to just BE. It doesn’t mean we do nothing—quite the opposite, in fact. We try to get caught up on stuff we let slide during the school year, like scrapbooking and cleaning up the old den. And we see movies, go shopping, and take little day trips (Capitola with our best mom/daughter friends, paddle boating, SF, etc.). We even manage a little getaway or two by ourselves and with family. And we spend a lot of time at home watching guilty-pleasure TV (this summer has been dominated by Bachelorette, So You Think You Can Dance, Pretty Little Liars, and for the next two weeks, the Olympics) and playing Disney’s Toontown (yup, even I play it with her!).
We read…
She acts… (Every summer Emily does a camp with the Peninsula Youth Theater—ignore the white blog at the bottom—all I had time for was a quickie snapshot before she wanted to run off to be with her castmates after the performance!)
And of course there is always the Clickin’ Moms annual Scavenger Hunt (blog post on that coming soon)…
And we even had time for a photo shoot! (And of course I am hoping for at least one more…)
As always, my summer with her feels like it has disappeared in the blink of an eye; I can’t believe in less than three weeks it’s over for another year and we’ll be back to the grindstone. But as always we have loved every second of it, and I can’t wait for the last few adventures we have planned! (And now I need to go back and watch the next episode of Pretty Little Liars—I can’t believe I am actually liking it—but it’s perfect summer entertainment!)
Please continue on in our little circle to see how the amazing Leah Cook views “Summer Life”!
