Since it’s Halloween this month, we decided to do a mask shoot with a mask we found about a year ago. I haven’t had my Edge 80 for very long, so I practiced with that optic only—in fact, when we went out to shoot, that was the only one I brought with me so I […]
I love these kinds of portraits, where the viewer gets to “look in on” a person just doing their thing, where the fact that a photographer is there is not relevant to the subject of the images. Capturing a moment in time, unposed and unaffected. Because these are the memories I most want to savor […]
Beautiful image Jessica! You will have so many of these every day moments documented just perfectly for Em to look back on someday (you take way more of these than I do!).ReplyCancel
September is childhood cancer awareness month, and the women in CMpro decided to “Go Gold” by dedicating some of our CMpro Daily images to the many families struggling with the unimaginable. So today I found one of the last blooming flowers in my yard, grabbed my Lensbaby and the macro tubes and filters, and tried […]
Jessica, what a beautiful dedication. These are so soft and pretty!ReplyCancel

Hi,
I am studying you for AS photography, I am looking at water for my first chapter (our project title is surfaces) and I love the work you have done with the droplets, I was wondering if you had any tips you could give me, or any techniques you have picked up? I also wanted to know if it was ok if I used a few of your images in my book, mainly the droplet and macro flower pictures.
In our Project 12 blog circle this month, we focused on creating a portrait that didn’t include a face. I think a portrait should demonstrate “who a person is” in some way; it should show a facet of their personality. And since Emily started high school this fall and has her first-ever locker, I decided […]
High school!!! What an amazing time for Emily. <3 Love that you still got to photograph her setting up her locker (which includes photos of course!). These are great memories.ReplyCancel
Lockers! Our kids don’t have lockers in our schools. What fun they are missing! I love these of her getting her locker all fixed up. Love the picture of her and her dad!ReplyCancel

Such a cool way to document her start in high school!ReplyCancel
I love these! How many kids have pics of their super fun lockers? I totally remember mine and the time I spent decorating it. It was completely the reason I was late to all my classes. Love these, as always. Great memories!ReplyCancel

I was excited to play with this month’s challenge, and then life happened… First Em was sick and then I was, so this was the only “motion blur” image I ended up with. But that’s OK, because this needed to be documented anyhow—Emily got a new bike this month from a dear friend!!!! She has […]
This month I signed up for my first ever CM Breakout Session, “Lensbaby Love: The Basics and Beyond”. I got my Lensbaby last year and have been practicing like crazy, but there were still things I wanted to learn. So when this breakout was announced, I decided to finally try one. It was such fun, […]

I love shooting wide open, and I love it even more when I get glorious circles of light, so I was excited about this month’s challenge! But then Emily asked if we could scrapbook this weekend, and since she is starting high school (high school!!!!) in a few days, I was feeling nostalgic so it […]
Wow, that i awesome!! High School? I cannot believe it. I don’t think I could get droplets of water to do that if I tried. That is so cool and looks amazing!ReplyCancel

Oh my gosh, last month I had to bow out of our circle, and I felt so bad about it! I am determined not to let it happen again. This month we shot with the camera most of us have with us all the time: our cell phones! I posted an image a couple of […]
